About the Split PDF Tool

This free PDF splitter extracts individual pages from any PDF — all within your browser. You can select specific pages using a visual thumbnail grid or by typing a range like 4‑10, 1,3,5. The selected pages are bundled into a ZIP file for easy download. No uploads, no sign‑ups, and no quality loss.

How to Split a PDF

  1. Upload your PDF – Drag your file into the upload zone, or click Browse. Thumbnail previews of every page will appear in a grid.
  2. Select the pages you want – Click individual thumbnails to select or deselect them, or type a range (e.g., 4‑10, 1,3,5) and click Apply Range. Use the Select All / Deselect All buttons for quick actions.
  3. Split and download – Click "Split & Download ZIP". Each selected page becomes its own PDF file, neatly packed into a single ZIP archive.

Pro tip: If you only need a few pages from a large document, click Deselect All first, then click only the thumbnails you need. This is the fastest way to cherry‑pick specific pages. The original PDF remains untouched — the extracted pages are brand‑new files created in your browser's memory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I split a password‑protected PDF?

No. PDFcone cannot open encrypted PDFs. Remove the password first, then use the splitter.

Will the original PDF be altered?

Absolutely not. The original file stays untouched. The extracted pages are brand‑new PDFs created from a copy in your browser's memory.

How many pages can I extract at once?

As many as the original PDF contains. The only limit is your browser's memory; very large files (500+ pages) may take a moment to generate thumbnails, but they still process successfully.

Does this work on mobile?

Yes! The thumbnail grid and selection tools are fully responsive. You can split a PDF on your phone or tablet just like on a desktop.

Can I split a PDF into individual pages without creating a ZIP?

The tool creates a ZIP containing separate PDFs for each selected page. If you only need one page, you'll still get a ZIP file, which you can simply extract on your device.
